New Online Experiment: emotional connotation of colors and non-anthropomorphic expression of affective states

by on Dec.03, 2013, under Blog

To create a new generation of social objects for the internet for things, we are conducting a study on the non-anthropomorphic expression of affective states. We developed a mathematical model of colors and their commonly associated emotional states.
We prepared an online questionnaire to conduct a first wide-range evaluation of our model. Experiments in lab conditions will follow.
We kindly ask you a few minutes of your time to fill in our questionnaire, (which includes a color blindness test whose result will be reported at the end):
Thank you in advance. Your participation will be greatly appreciated.

Faceing with Uncanney Valley

by on Jun.25, 2012, under Blog, Robotic News

“We should begin to build an accurate map of the uncanny valley, so that through robotics research we can come to understand what makes us human. This map is also necessary to enable us to create—using nonhuman designs—devices to which people can relate comfortably.”

An interesting article on IEEE Spectrum on which Mashairo Mori, the father of the Uncanney Valley concept, discuss his theory in the context of modern robotic research.
